During a special operation to monitor pedestrian behavior in traffic, 189 violations were recorded across North Macedonia, the Ministry of Interior said.

The operation was conducted on September 2 by the Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Affairs Department and lasted from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The highest number of violations was recorded in the area covered by the Štip Sector for Internal Affairs, with a total of 57 cases. The Bitola and Strumica sectors each recorded 32 violations, while 27 were identified in the Tetovo sector.
Of the 189 cases recorded, 159 involved unsafe road crossings. These included crossing outside marked pedestrian crossings and using areas not designated for this purpose.
The Ministry of Interior said appropriate measures were taken for each violation in accordance with the legal provisions in force.
The ministry announced that stepped-up traffic checks will continue, with the aim of improving the safety of all road users.
At the same time, pedestrians are urged to obey traffic rules and cross the road only at marked pedestrian crossings or other designated safe crossing points.
