The incident was recorded about one mile from the shore, in the direction of Forsiluk. While patrolling and monitoring the maritime area, Border Police and Maritime Police Unit officers noticed the speedboat in difficulty after also receiving a notification that it was seeking assistance.
The vessel was carrying its operator and seven family members. The engine failure had caused water to enter the speedboat, putting it at risk of sinking.
The officers intervened immediately to get the people out of the dangerous situation. They provided the necessary assistance to all eight people and towed the speedboat toward the shore, where it was brought ashore in the Karpen area.
After the rescue, all the people on board were found to be in good health. They expressed their gratitude to the police officers for their intervention and the assistance provided.
Checks carried out after the incident confirmed that the speedboat had proper documentation, while its operator had a license to operate the vessel.
