A day earlier, the square was filled with protesters, including emigrants who had arrived from various countries, including Germany, Italy, Greece, Switzerland and the United States of America.

They expressed their support for the citizens who have been demanding the departure of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government for weeks.

The protest initially began in opposition to the project in Zvërnec, but quickly turned into a broader movement against the government.

Protesters have repeatedly raised allegations of corruption and misgovernment, demanding a change in the country’s leadership.

One of the protesters’ main and non-negotiable demands remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The diaspora’s presence at today’s protest is also expected to bring another dimension to the citizens’ mobilization.
