The flamingo protest, which has been taking place for the past three weeks on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, also became part of the discussions at the Tirana Municipal Council meeting.
Opposition representatives requested that the issue be addressed during the meeting. During the debate, Mirela Ruko, a member of the “Together” Movement, clashed with Tirana’s acting mayor, Anuela Ristani.

“I would like the protests to be part of today’s agenda as well, so that we can discuss what their concerns are… it has to do with you people, and I do not know whether you even live in this city, which has been turned into the dollhouse of architects who have completely destroyed the way we live. If you are not aware of why people are taking to the streets in protest, allow me to inform you. Why are you afraid to discuss issues that concern the residents of Tirana? Mr. Muharremi, when important issues are being discussed, you go to the toilet…,” she said.
For several minutes, Ruko interrupted the normal proceedings of the capital’s Municipal Council meeting. After several warnings from the chair of the session, she was expelled from the hall.
Afterward, the meeting continued with the review of the agenda, and in the end all draft decisions were approved.
