Representatives of civil society have filed a criminal complaint with the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) over the violence allegedly inflicted by police on protesters during student demonstrations that have lasted 13 days, calling for a full investigation and punishment for the officers responsible.
In a statement to the media, intellectuals and civil society representatives condemned police violence, announcing that they had documented 180 cases of violence against citizens, students and high school students.

“The students are not alone; we will not leave them alone. We have filed a criminal complaint with SPAK over police violence. The anti-violence package also announced by the prime minister is a package designed to silence people. There is terrorizing violence by the police,” a civil society representative declared.
A lawyer also called for legal responsibility to focus on the officers who used violence during the protests, emphasizing that, in her view, the cases are documented and do not involve mere suspicions.
“I expect security measures to be imposed on the police officers, not the students. There is absolutely nothing to discuss on this matter, since the protests have involved violent conduct by the police, which is not based on suspicions but on facts,” she said.
