A police officer in Thailand is suspected of shooting and killing his wife, who was a teacher at a nursery in the Bang Lamung district of Chonburi province.

The crime took place at around 11:00 a.m. inside Nongplalai Elementary Kindergarten, located approximately 150 kilometers southeast of Bangkok.
Local authorities identified the suspect as Tasapong Thongthat. According to local media reports, he shot his wife, 48-year-old Pailim Thongthat, several times on the first floor of the building’s canteen before leaving the scene.
Police later found the officer at a residence and are attempting to persuade him to surrender. So far, the reasons and motive for the attack remain unclear.
During the incident, 44 children and three other teachers were at the nursery. They were all evacuated safely, and authorities said their health was good.
Chonburi provincial governor Narit Niramaywong ordered the institution to temporarily suspend its activities. Meanwhile, mental health specialists will provide support to the children and staff members affected by the incident.
