The Democratic Party has completed the reorganisation and full institutionalisation of its leadership bodies, a process that Sali Berisha described as the deepest renewal effort since the political force was founded.
During a discussion, the PD chairman announced that Flamur Noka and Gazment Bardhi had been reconfirmed in key positions, while the new structures now include a greater presence of women and young people.

According to Berisha, last week was of particular importance, as it marked the completion of the process of institutionally establishing all Democratic Party bodies. He said the entire phase was carried out in the spirit of renewal, not only in terms of numbers but also by correcting previously missing balances within the party.
He noted that women and young people now make up 60 percent of the PD’s National Council. According to him, this ratio is particularly important because it puts an end to a long-standing distortion in representation within the party’s structures.
In the elected leadership of the Democratic Party, two-thirds of members are taking on this responsibility for the first time. Likewise, three PD vice-presidents have been elected for the first time. Of the 14 secretaries, only three have received a new mandate.
Berisha said these figures demonstrate that this is the broadest process of renewal in the PD since its creation. Alongside the numerical changes, he said, the necessary balances of representation have also been established, while the new structures have highlighted outstanding qualities and values.
The Democratic leader said he was convinced that renewal had been the main demand of citizens, party members and supporters. He stressed that the change is not limited to statistics, as the PD, in its final stretch, now has a team with all the necessary capabilities to lead the party towards the successful fulfilment of its mission.
Emphasising that the Democratic Party relies on the vote of its membership, Berisha expressed deep gratitude to his associates who were not elected. He described their contribution as extraordinary and said he continues to hold them in the highest regard.
Many of these associates, he said, hold other important positions in the PD, in the parliamentary group, or are engaged in missions linked to fundamental reforms in the interests of the party and the country.
Berisha assured that the renewal process does not end with these elections and will continue. He reiterated that well-known personalities and individuals with outstanding values in their respective fields are associated with the Democratic Party, some of whom competed successfully during this process.
Alongside them, many others connected to the PD have expressed their readiness to contribute. They aim to place their intellectual and professional potential at the service of Albanian citizens and the party’s vision, regardless of whether they are in Albania, Europe or other countries around the world.
For the first time during a renewal process, the position and role of the diaspora in the Democratic Party were also institutionalised. As important initial steps, a party vice-president and a secretary responsible for the diaspora were elected.
According to Berisha, efforts will continue to give the diaspora a broader role in the political life of the PD and Albania. He said important steps have been taken to meet the expectations of those who rightly sought renewal as the main characteristic of this process, while further changes will follow.
