Besjan Rexhepi responds to Minister Shasivari on Jurisprudence: Our position rests on the constitution, there is no room for delays

Besjan Rexhepi, who heads the Student Parliament at UEJL, has issued a response after Justice Minister Jeton Shasivari’s invitation to a dialogue table on the Jurisprudence issue. According to Rexhepi, students do not need to be convinced because their position is formed and unwavering.

He stressed that the basis of their demand rests not on opinions or political games, but on the text of the Constitution of North Macedonia and the legislation in force that enshrines language rights and civic equality. “For this reason, there is no justification for prolonging this problem any further. The path to a solution is concrete, fully feasible and simply requires institutional will to be implemented,” he said.

Rexhepi confirmed that he views the announced meeting favorably, but warned that he expects more than a formality. He asked that this meeting mark a real turning point toward finalizing the issue. Speaking on behalf of the student body, he assured that they will continue to defend this cause with honesty and determination.

“Linguistic equality and respect for our rights are not issues that should remain suspended from one government mandate to the next. We are simply asking for three things: equal treatment, correct implementation of the laws and full respect for student rights,” the student leader concluded.
