Protests in Albania Gain New Attention in the EU – French MEP Heads to Tirana: The People Are Rising Up Against Edi Rama’s Corruption!

The large protests that have swept across Albania for more than a month against Edi Rama’s government have received another important show of support on the international stage, this time directly from the European Parliament.

French MEP Emma Fourreau announced in an Instagram post that she is heading to Albania to join citizens in the square.

With a direct message, Fourreau said her trip is intended to support what is now being internationally described as the environmental and political uprising of Albanians. “I am heading to Albania to support the revolution of the pink flamingos!” the MEP wrote, giving added weight to the citizens’ cause in the eyes of European public opinion.

She went on to level strong accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama. “For more than a month, the Albanian people have been rising up against the ecocidal project and the corruption of Edi Rama’s socialist government,” Fourreau stressed in her reaction.

At the end of the message, which has been widely shared online, the MEP called for an immediate halt to the plundering of the country’s national assets and openly sided with the protesters who take to the boulevard every day. “Stop the looting of land and wealth, support for Albanian men and women in struggle!” Emma Fourreau’s post concludes, delivering a strong blow to the majority’s propaganda in the offices of Brussels.
