A tragic incident was recorded on the beaches of Otranto, where a 54-year-old man lost his life after managing to pull his two 8-year-old twin children out of the sea currents.
According to reports, the incident happened on Saturday morning, at around 11:30. Although conditions at sea were difficult because of strong winds, some holidaymakers had entered the water. Among them were the two minors, who were quickly caught by the currents and carried away from the shore.

After hearing cries for help, the father immediately went into the sea and reached the children, helping them return to shore.
But as soon as he came back onto land, the 54-year-old, identified by the media as Gennaro Cagnazzo from the Lecce area, suddenly felt unwell and collapsed.
Those present first tried to revive him, and emergency teams later intervened as well, but without success. Authorities suspect that after the exhausting rescue effort, he suffered a fatal health problem.
