While lawmakers were taking part in the plenary session in Parliament, citizens had gathered outside the building in protest against Edi Rama’s government and the entire political class.
This protest had been announced a day earlier, after the daily gathering outside the Prime Minister’s Office. Chants from the crowd included “Rama resign,” “Rama in prison, Berisha in prison,” and “Your end has come.”

As majority and opposition MPs entered Parliament, the protesters addressed them with accusations, calling them sellouts.
However, while the lawmakers were inside the plenary chamber, tensions shifted among the protesters themselves, who began pushing one another.
“An incident among the protesters, after one of them insulted the communists, which prompted a reaction from some supporters of the Together Movement,” journalist Bekim Bici reports.
