Amid calls for justice and the government’s removal, one of the protesters expressed the deep disappointment of those taking part, describing the political elite as a group that has severed all ties with the interests of citizens.

“The political class, Parliament, is against the people. These people have placed themselves above the law. They have made theft the standard and do not apply the real standard for the people. The President does not protect human rights, he is a puppet president. He does not know the people’s problems, or pretends not to know them,” said another protester.
