Residents in attendance expressed their support for preserving the Municipality of Divjaka, opposing the possibility of its merger with the Municipality of Lushnja.

The meeting was opened by councilor Said Ibrahimaj, who invited participants to present their positions and opinions on territorial reform.

The mayor of Divjaka, Josif Gorrea, then presented the commission’s findings and the reasons for opposing the municipality’s merger with Lushnja.

Gorrea argued that Divjaka has the economic capacity, geographical area and population that place it between 27th and 31st among Albania’s 61 municipalities.

Following the conclusion of the hearings, the commission will submit the documentation it has prepared to Parliament, together with the signatures of citizens who participated in the public meetings. The proposal will be reviewed by the parliamentary commission and will then be put to a vote in Parliament.
