The former United States envoy to Kosovo, Christopher Hill, has commented on the reactions to the latest ruling by the Special Court against former KLA leaders, saying that he understands the disappointment, resentment and anger of citizens.

During an interview with the media, Hill said that such a ruling could naturally cause upset and disappointment. He also said that he empathizes with those who consider the ruling unfair or wrong.
According to him, citizens should focus more on the upset caused by the ruling and less on anger, while primary attention should be paid to the defense team’s next steps.
Hill stressed that what matters is determining the actions and the path the defense should follow, as well as achieving the best possible outcome for the people in Kosovo.
He added that anger and resentment toward international organizations would not be helpful in this situation.
“I think that upset and disappointment are natural reactions to this ruling. I express my empathy for these people, who believe that the ruling is wrong. I understand their resentment and anger very well, as well as the enormous burden they are facing.
I wanted to tell people to focus more on their upset than on their anger. What needs to be considered now is what the defense team needs, what action it should take and what the right path is for it to follow, as well as what the best possible outcome for the people in Kosovo might be. I do not think that anger and resentment toward international organizations are helpful,” he said.
