A 97-year-old woman has died in the province of Padua, while her 70-year-old son-in-law is suspected of being responsible for her murder. The two lived in the same home.

The elderly woman, who suffered from several health problems, was cared for by her daughter and son-in-law. At the time of the incident, only the victim and her son-in-law were in the house.
Investigators’ initial suspicion is that the man placed a plastic bag over the 97-year-old woman’s head and suffocated her after she had sought medical assistance.
After the incident was reported, the Carabinieri went to the home along with prosecutor Marco Brusegan. The authorities began investigations to establish the exact circumstances and causes of the crime.
The 70-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to be transferred to prison. Meanwhile, investigative activities and legal proceedings related to the case are continuing.
