Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, announced that the party’s six MPs who did not support Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for President of Kosovo could face disciplinary measures.

He said that procedures within the LDK would be reviewed at the appropriate time, but stressed that his main concern was the consequences this situation could have for Kosovo.
Abdixhiku criticized the political developments, saying that the country was losing an opportunity to avoid what he described as individual politicization. According to him, the situation is extremely serious, and efforts to think beyond anger and serve the country risk being replaced by the expansion of the absolute power of a single party in the Republic of Kosovo.
He said he did not yet know who would be on the list, adding that the decision would be made in due course. Abdixhiku said it was unclear whether anyone wanted to go to elections immediately, but warned that the consequences of this situation would be understood and become apparent very soon, when such a request was brought forward again.
“Once again, I only follow the Council, and I apologize to the people of Kosovo. That is all I could do; I could not do more. Not with this parliamentary group, not with this division, not with this split—I could not do more,” he said.
