Mickoski: We are negotiating with 5–6 investors for data centers

North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, said that the government is negotiating with at least 5 or 6 potential investors for the construction of data centers. According to him, one of the companies interested is a major multinational corporation, while the government will not abandon the initiative, TV21 reports.

Regarding concerns about the potential impact of these projects on natural resources and the environment, Mickoski said that major companies would not invest in them if they posed a risk.

He cited the development of artificial intelligence and data centers as an example, asking what the gross domestic product of the United States would be today without these sectors. Mickoski mentioned NVIDIA, Amazon, SpaceX and OpenAI as global multinational companies whose brands are worth trillions, thousands of billions, and stressed that they would not have been created if they harmed citizens’ quality of life.

The prime minister added that the government would remain fully committed to implementing this strategy. According to him, the projects also envisage the construction of gas-fired power stations, which will produce the electricity that will subsequently be used by the data centers.
