DUI accuses VLEN: The treatment of emigrants at Tabanoc is unacceptable and inhumane

DUI has strongly reacted to scenes recorded at the Tabanoc border crossing, where our compatriots were seen waiting in extremely difficult conditions under the scorching sun. According to DUI, these images are deeply troubling and cannot be tolerated, as our diaspora does not deserve such mistreatment or degrading waits that seriously undermine human dignity.

The political force emphasizes that these are individuals who, for years, have supported their families and made an irreplaceable contribution to the country’s economic development. Instead of providing them with facilities for a swift and dignified passage, the authorities subject them to long queues and bureaucratic procedures that, in the middle of the summer season, turn into outright torture.

DUI clarifies that no one disputes the necessity of respecting the law or paying the prescribed fines. However, enforcing legal provisions can in no way justify an inhumane approach. Institutions have a duty to organize themselves so that every procedural step is completed quickly and with the utmost consideration for citizens’ rights.

Addressing its government coalition partner, DUI stresses that VLEN bears part of the direct responsibility for the way state institutions treat the population. Silence in the face of the bitter reality at Tabanoc is considered unforgivable. “The emigrant is neither a burden nor a threat to the country. They are a citizen who has the right to be treated with honor and respect,” DUI’s statement concludes.
