US President Donald Trump has announced the launch of a new economic campaign against Iran, presenting it as the toughest measure of its kind ever taken against a state.

In a post on his social network Truth Social, Trump declared that Washington will subject Tehran to unprecedented economic pressure and isolation. He described this approach as an “economic war” and warned of severe consequences for any country or entity that continues to support Iran.
The American president’s warning was directed especially at foreign banks, companies, airports, and state institutions that might provide economic aid to Iran. According to Trump, any attempt to create a “lifeline” for Tehran will be punished with heavy financial costs.
The new campaign also aims to halt activities related to oil smuggling, money transfers, currency transactions, vessel registration, and the use of intermediary companies to circumvent sanctions.
Tehran’s reaction – Iran reacted immediately to the statements from Washington. The semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that describing this policy as an “economic war” is nothing but a continuation of the US campaign of “maximum pressure,” which Tehran considers a failure.
Tasnim described Trump’s statements as “sensational and exaggerated,” implying that the Iranian authorities have no intention of backing down in the face of the new wave of economic pressure.
Another escalation – The US president’s announcement comes at a tense time for US-Iran relations. The 60-day deadline set in the June agreement to push forward a peaceful solution has expired without reaching a lasting deal.
The situation has been aggravated by tensions in the Strait of Hormuz area, which have affected global oil circulation.
Trump has stated that the goal of this campaign is to place Iran under an unprecedented level of economic isolation.
