Emergency services reported that Arday was found lifeless on Friday afternoon in Battersea, south London.

The Metropolitan Police were notified by the London Ambulance Service. According to police, the 41-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and his family has been informed.

Last week, Arday resigned from his post as professor of sociology of education at Cambridge, following plagiarism accusations and questions about some of his achievements. He had dismissed these claims.

“At this time, his death is being treated as unexpected, but it is not believed to be suspicious,” the Metropolitan Police stated.

The 41-year-old academic had denied committing plagiarism, although he had acknowledged that there were errors in his work. Last week, he said the recent uproar had brought “a relentless level of public scrutiny and personal attack.”
