On Thursday, temperatures exceeded 34°C for the eighth time this year, setting a new record and surpassing the figures from 1976 and 2020, when seven days above that level had been recorded.
According to the data, temperatures could range between 34 and 35°C. A day earlier, the highest recorded temperature was 35.5°C. Wales recorded 31.3°C, Scotland 29.3°C, while Northern Ireland reached 27.5°C.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has kept heat warnings in force across most of England until Sunday evening.
Authorities stress that high temperatures can have significant consequences for people over 65, young children and those with health problems, especially because warm nights make it harder for the body to recover.
Although this heatwave is not expected to break the United Kingdom’s all-time temperature record, it is making this year a record year for the number of days with temperatures above 34°C. The national temperature record remains 40.3°C, recorded in 2022.
