Osman Selmani, a citizen of Kosovo, was arrested by Serbian authorities at the Mutivodë border crossing as he was returning from his hometown, and was later taken to the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade.
He is currently being held by Serbian authorities on suspicion of war crimes.

His family has denied the accusations, calling them untrue and unfounded, and has expressed its conviction that he is innocent.
“We believe in his innocence and will stand by him until the full truth is brought to light,” the family said in its reaction.
The statement they made public reads:
“Dear family members, friends and colleagues,
We inform you that our father, Osman Selmani, was arrested on 01.07.2026 at the Mutivodë border crossing, as he was returning from his hometown. He is currently at the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, facing accusations which we, as a family, consider unfounded and untrue.
We believe in his innocence and will stand by him until the full truth is brought to light. We trust that justice will prevail and the truth will come to light.
We sincerely thank you for every bit of support, every prayer and every encouraging word during these difficult moments for our family.”
