Mexico’s western coast was struck last night by a 6.1-magnitude earthquake, the country’s National Seismological Service announced.
The epicenter of the tremor was located at sea, about 116 kilometers southwest of the city of Guasave, in the state of Sinaloa, while the focal depth was recorded at just 5 kilometers.

Precisely because of this shallow depth, the earthquake was felt in several areas near the coastline, but so far there have been no reports of fatalities, injuries, or major material damage.
Meanwhile, Mexican authorities are closely monitoring the situation and continuing inspections in the affected areas, while no tsunami warning has been issued so far.
