The National Food Authority announced that, in the interest of transparency and informing the public, it had received information through inter-institutional communication with the Security Academy in Sauk regarding the suspected poisoning of several trainees at this institution.
After receiving this information, the NFA immediately carried out the relevant inspections at SORI-AL, which provides catering services to the Security Academy in Sauk, as well as at the “Skënderbej” Garrison near the Armed Forces Academy.

Checks carried out at the Security Academy in Sauk found that the activity was being conducted under appropriate hygiene and sanitary conditions and with the necessary accompanying documentation. In addition, 14 samples were taken for analysis, specifically 7 samples from lunch and 7 from dinner, from the preserved samples of ready-made products processed at the Skënderbej Garrison, Tirana, which had been consumed on 24.06.2026 at the Security Academy in Sauk. These samples were sent to the ISUV laboratory for analysis of microbiological indicators.
Further on, as part of traceability follow-up, an inspection was also carried out at the “Skenderbej Garrison, Tirana” facility, where the food products had been processed.
According to the checks at these premises, hygiene and sanitary conditions were found to be appropriate and the accompanying documentation was complete. During the procedure, 14 samples of cooked food preserved from lunch and dinner on 24.06.2026 were also taken, along with 5 swab samples to check the hygiene of the environment and equipment. All of these were sent to ISUV for analysis.
At the Skënderbej Garrison, Tirana address, the measure of suspending activity was imposed until the analysis results were released. Other institutions were also present during the inspections, such as NJVKSH Tirana, which took environmental swabs from the premises, equipment and staff, as well as ISHSH and the Tirana State Police Directorate.
The NFA said it will continue to follow the case step by step and take further measures to guarantee food safety.
