Agron Shehaj, leader of the Opportunity Party, has called on SPAK to launch an investigation into Edi Rama following his clash with Erion Veliaj. His reaction came after Veliaj claimed that Justice Minister Toni Gogu had threatened him in his prison cell on Rama’s orders.
According to Shehaj, developments within the Socialist Party reveal a serious conflict in which corrupt figures are destroying one another. He described Veliaj’s statement today as explosive, referring to his allegation that a threat from Edi Rama had been delivered to him in prison through the justice minister.

According to the Opportunity Party leader, Veliaj also acknowledged that, until yesterday, Rama had looked after both his prison conditions and his friends and family. Shehaj said that, from today onward, that support had been withdrawn through a threat that he would be left to rot in prison unless he remained silent and accepted Edi Rama’s terms.
Calling for Rama to be placed under investigation, Shehaj asked what else needed to happen for SPAK to take this step. In his view, Veliaj’s account makes it clear that Edi Rama himself heads what Shehaj calls a criminal organization.
Shehaj alleged that Rama looks after members of this gang who have ended up in prison or before the courts, but also threatens them whenever any of them dares to oppose him.
In his assessment, the regime he describes as criminal is collapsing and disintegrating from within. Shehaj stressed that it is now up to SPAK to demonstrate that there are no red lines and that no one enjoys immunity or stands above the law, including Edi Rama.
