SPERTK calls for RTK employees to be included in the 13th salary: Equal treatment must be guaranteed

The Independent Trade Union of RTK (SPERTK) has asked the Commission for Budget, Labor and Transfers to prioritize reviewing the inclusion of employees of Kosovo’s Radio Television (RTK) in the 13th-salary scheme.

According to SPERTK, this payment has already been made available to other public employees, while leaving RTK staff out raises concerns about inequality and undermines fairness toward employees of the public broadcaster.

SPERTK is calling for RTK employees to be treated equally and included in the 13th-salary payment, stressing that they should not be excluded from this right.

The union has called on RTK’s Board and Management to urgently present this issue to the responsible institutions and take concrete steps to guarantee the inclusion of employees in the 13th-salary scheme.

At the same time, SPERTK is calling on the Board and Management to secure a sufficient budget for the Public Broadcaster. According to the union, this would enable employees to receive pay increases, as their salaries have not risen for around 20 years, as well as improve working conditions, which continue to be difficult.

The union believes that the Board and Management should not remain passive in the face of an issue directly linked to the economic interests and dignity of employees. It stresses that it is their institutional responsibility to represent and protect the interests of RTK staff, seek concrete solutions and inform employees about the actions they will take.

Through their daily work and commitment, RTK employees contribute to informing citizens and fulfilling the public broadcaster’s mission. For this reason, SPERTK considers that they should not be treated as second-class workers or left out of a measure applied to other public employees.

SPERTK has warned that if the Board and Management fail to address this issue and take concrete action, it will seek institutional accountability for the failure. According to the union, employees have the right to be informed about what has been done, which steps have been taken and why their interests have not been properly protected.

The union has made clear that it will not accept silence, negligence or a lack of commitment regarding an issue it considers important for RTK employees.

“We are not seeking privileges, but equality, justice and dignified treatment for RTK employees,” SPERTK said in its request.
