Islami: Serbia is behind the terrorist acts in Banjska and against the Ibër-Lepenc canal

Security studies professor Avni Islami has blamed Serbia for the terrorist attack in Banjska and the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal.

Islami responded to comments by Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, who denied any involvement by Serbian state institutions in the Banjska incident. According to the professor, both cases are terrorist acts backed by the Serbian state.

At yesterday’s meeting of the UN Security Council, Đurić sought to defend Serbia’s position on the armed attack in Banjska. He described the incident as an “isolated attack” and said the army, police and BIA had no connection to it and played no organized role.

But, according to Islami, the evidence gathered points to the opposite. Weapons manufactured at Serbian military factories were seized at the scene, and these cannot be removed from official depots without authorization from the relevant state authorities. While Kosovo, the European Union and the United States have officially described the Banjska incident as a terrorist attack, Đurić tried to portray it as a “local armed conflict” to protect the Serbian state and Milan Radoičić.

Islami reminded Đurić that both the attack in Banjska and the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal meet all the criteria for being classified as terrorist acts, with the Serbian state and all its mechanisms behind them.
