The European Central Bank has warned of another possible increase in food prices across Europe in 2027. Factors that could drive this rise include higher energy costs, droughts and extreme weather.
Forecasts indicate that food inflation in the eurozone could reach 3.4% in the third quarter of next year. Higher transport, production and fertilizer costs could be reflected in the prices of bread, dairy products and meat.

North Macedonia could also feel the effects, as it is exposed to changes in international energy and agricultural product prices.
Although inflation has slowed, food in the eurozone was approximately 30% more expensive in September 2026 than at the end of 2021.
