Clash with Erion Veliaj / Have you threatened the mayor? Rama: It matters as much to me as the noise of cars on the boulevard

Prime Minister Edi Rama has commented on allegations by Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, who is in prison, that the head of government threatened him. Asked by journalists during a press conference with the EU ambassador, Rama chose not to dwell on the clash between them, dismissing the allegations as insignificant.

“The rest is like the noise of these cars coming and going along the boulevard. What you are asking about matters as much to me as that noise matters to those of us here,” Rama replied.

Rama went on to discuss the government’s achievements and objectives: “The government is carrying out its duties and continues to work, as I have said before, every day, with precisely the objective that has brought us together at this press conference today. The historic objective of uniting our country with Europe and ensuring we do not miss a historic opportunity that we have created through hard work, but which has also been helped by the stars aligning in Albania’s favor.”
