Various reports claim that the 95-year-old is in critical condition, while Cuban authorities have so far issued no official confirmation.
According to “Diario de las Américas,” Castro is facing serious health problems and is believed to be on life support. The outlet has also suggested that he may have suffered a stroke, citing its own sources. Other reports have raised the possibility that the former president has been hospitalized.
However, the Cuban government has not confirmed any of these claims. Local sources cited by the media have likewise reported no unusual developments on the streets of Havana.
Raúl Castro, who led Cuba as president until 2018, has rarely been seen in public recently. His few appearances and the latest images of him have raised further questions about his health.
His most recent public appearance was reportedly on August 13. Meanwhile, in July, he was absent from ceremonies marking the anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks, an event he had regularly attended for more than three decades.
