According to his statement to Kosovo Online, the change is part of a broader process to optimize KFOR’s presence in Kosovo.
Ulutash explained that the transition from a permanent presence at the bridge is taking place under certain conditions and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police, EULEX and other relevant actors.
He stressed that this reorganization does not mean KFOR is withdrawing from northern Kosovo.
“KFOR will continue to maintain a visible presence in the north and south of Mitrovica and throughout northern Kosovo,” the KFOR commander said.
