Russian drone attack causes fire and explosions at explosives depot near Kyiv, more than 200 evacuated

An explosives depot caught fire following a Russian drone attack in the Kyiv region, while a series of explosions forced Ukrainian authorities to evacuate more than 200 residents from the area, including children.

The incident was recorded in the village of Muyla, in Buchansky district. Ukrainian authorities reported that a large fire broke out immediately after the attack and that several explosions were heard.

Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, announced that more than 200 people had been evacuated from the area. He also said that some people had been injured.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has opened an investigation to determine whether the explosives were stored in accordance with regulations. As part of the investigation, authorities are also checking whether the company managing the depot had the necessary permits.

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky accused the authorities of failing to learn from another similar incident with fatal consequences that occurred in July at an ammunition depot near Kyiv.

Describing the recurrence of such incidents as “criminal negligence,” he called for those responsible to be punished.

During the war between Russia and Ukraine, drone and missile attacks have increased, targeting infrastructure and ammunition depots as well.
