The waste dump in Kameras, Fushë-Krujë, has once again been engulfed in flames, creating a concerning situation for the environment and local residents. Preliminary information from the authorities raises strong suspicions of arson, as the entire area containing waste caught fire at the same time, suggesting that flammable substances may have been used.

This is the second time in roughly a month that the waste dump has burned. A dense cloud of toxic smoke has spread across the area and, depending on the wind direction, is moving toward Mamurras and Kamëz, causing breathing difficulties for residents.
Firefighting services have been deployed at the scene and are working to contain the spread of the flames. However, according to experts, the fire cannot be isolated and extinguished solely by using water from fire engines.
Urgent intervention with heavy equipment and bulldozers is needed to completely extinguish the fires burning beneath the surface. Covering the waste with soil, thereby encapsulating it, is considered the only effective way to neutralize the fire.
