Thursday’s plenary session in Parliament began amid tensions after Democratic Party lawmakers protested inside the chamber, blocking the podium and opposing the normal conduct of parliamentary proceedings.
When Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi opened the session, opposition lawmakers created a cacophony by banging on their desks with their hands. At the same time, they raised banners in support of the students’ protest.

Tensions escalated further when Democratic lawmakers blocked the Parliament podium, preventing the session from continuing normally.
In response, members of the Republican Guard formed a cordon inside the chamber, positioning themselves in front of the opposition lawmakers.
