A 62-year-old man has been arrested by police in Mirdita after being caught red-handed starting a fire. Anton Deda was taken into custody. Police said Deda was caught while the area was being monitored by drone, after he was suspected of deliberately starting fires.

According to police, the 62-year-old is suspected of having started five other fires in recent days.
“At the moment of his arrest, the 62-year-old had just started a fire in the village of Rraja e Valës. Investigative actions and monitoring in the area documented that, in previous days, this citizen had also started five other fires,” the statement said.
His arrest was carried out for the criminal offenses of “Destruction of property by fire” and “Destruction by fire of forests and forested land.”
