On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Ohrid Agreement, DUI leader Ali Ahmeti said attention should not be focused on folklore and emotions. According to him, everyone must reflect and commit to building a life of peace, stability and security.

Ahmeti stressed that Macedonia is his country and the country of his grandparents and great-grandparents. “I love Macedonia as much as Crvenkovski and Mickoski do,” he said.
The DUI leader warned that anyone seeking to undermine the Albanian language and equitable representation should keep their hands off the Ohrid Agreement. He emphasized that the agreement is not only an achievement for Albanians but a shared success.
Speaking further, Ahmeti said there had been a plan to divide Macedonia, under which some cities would have remained outside Albania. “The Albanians of Skopje would not have been together with me, while I would have been part of Albania,” he said.
“I am not saying that this is solely the result of the Albanians. I am not saying that only the Albanians gained from the Ohrid Agreement; the Macedonian nation gained as well,” Ahmeti said.
