Lawyer Arianit Koci has revealed new details about the detention of Kosovo citizen Dugagjin Maxhuni by Serbian authorities as he was crossing the border between Serbia and Croatia.

Speaking on TV Dukagjini’s FIVE program, Koci said Maxhuni is facing allegations of war crimes. According to the Serbian authorities, he is suspected of having participated, as a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, in the expulsion of Serbs from that region.
Koci rejected these claims, emphasizing that Maxhuni had never served in the ranks of the KLA. The lawyer said that war crimes charges have become standard practice for the Serbian authorities, adding that Maxhuni himself had been expelled to Albania by Serbian forces.
According to the lawyer, Maxhuni, who was born on May 10, 1979, and is originally from Beci, Gjakova, was initially stopped at the border for verification. His family was later informed that he had been taken to Belgrade and that proceedings against him were continuing.
Koci also criticized Kosovo’s institutions and political establishment, saying that insufficient attention is being paid to cases in which Kosovo citizens are arrested by the Serbian authorities.
