Russia’s airstrikes on Kyiv have been strongly condemned by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. She described the bombings as “horrific atrocities,” after at least 17 people were killed during another night of attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

Von der Leyen said the world had once again awoken to news of grave atrocities committed by Russia through airstrikes against Ukraine, stressing that Moscow must pay for the destruction it has caused.
The European Commission president also announced that the institution intends to use proceeds generated from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
According to her, Ukraine is also receiving €1.4 billion from these proceeds, funding that will help the country continue its resistance against Russia’s illegal war.
