New Zealand actor Sam Neill has passed away at the age of 78. He starred in Oscar-winning and commercially successful films such as “The Piano” and “Jurassic Park”.
The actor’s death was announced on Monday in a statement posted on his Instagram account.

Media reports say no cause of death was given, but Neill had recently revealed that he was cancer-free after being diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma stage three, a type of blood cancer, in 2022.
“With deep sadness, the family of Sam Neill announces the news of his death on Monday, July 13, in Sydney, Australia. Sam was surrounded by his family and passed away with the dignity that characterized his entire life. The loss was sudden and unexpected, but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free. They wish to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital for the extraordinary care they provided,” the Neill family.
