Panic on Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki to Munich, engine fault and window damage in mid-air, 61-year-old injured

Passengers on a morning Ryanair flight experienced moments of panic on a plane that had departed from Thessaloniki’s “Macedonia” airport bound for Munich.

Preliminary sources say that just a few minutes after takeoff, at an altitude of around 6,000–6,500 feet, a technical problem was detected in one of the aircraft’s two engines.

Faced with the situation, the crew immediately implemented emergency procedures, while the pilot decided to return to Thessaloniki airport. The plane managed to land there safely.

Meanwhile, according to passenger testimonies, a loud noise was heard during the flight and one of the aircraft’s windows sustained damage, causing decompression in the cabin. As a result, the oxygen masks were automatically deployed, while travelers assisted a passenger who was seated near the damaged window.

Immediately after landing, an EKAB ambulance (emergency medical service) took the injured man and transported him to AXEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki. He is a 61-year-old Serbian citizen who suffered a neck injury.

Afterward, the passengers continued their journey to Munich on another aircraft, while the airline and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the causes of the incident.
