According to Gervalla, justice reform does not represent only changes in legislation, but is a necessary need for building a justice system with integrity.
In her full post, she wrote: The justice reform package is moving toward institutional finalization.
Gervalla said that together with Deputy Minister Nimoni, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Kosovo Judicial Council, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council and the Justice Academy gathered to address the final issues concerning the five draft laws that are part of the Joint Declaration of Commitment on justice reform.
She said that through an open and professional debate, the provisions of these draft laws were reviewed and harmonized, with the aim of finalizing them in line with constitutional standards and international best practices.
According to her, justice reform is not simply a process of legal changes, but a state necessity for creating a justice system that does not compromise on integrity, that places accountability at its foundation and that restores citizens’ trust in justice institutions.
She added that they remain committed, through inter-institutional dialogue and close cooperation with all actors in the system, to advancing reforms that strengthen the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo.
