The Speaker underlined that although the right to protest is a fundamental right in any democracy, it cannot be turned into a means of violence against State Police officers, members of parliament, or public institutions.
Post:
“Nothing can justify violence against State Police officers, members of Parliament, or public institutions. Albania is built on dialogue, respect for the law and institutions, not confrontation. The right to protest is a fundamental right and must be exercised peacefully.
When a protest turns into violence against people, it undermines not only their safety, but also the very values on which democracy is built. Full solidarity with the State Police officers injured while carrying out their duty, and a speedy recovery. The attacks on members of the Parliament of Albania are unacceptable. Nothing good is built from violence and chaos,” he wrote.
