Lutfi Haziri, vice chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, commented on the request from the party’s branches in Peja and Lipjan for the resignation of the party leader following the result of the June 7 elections.
According to him, this issue is part of the democratic functioning within the LDK and, as such, should be seen as a political request.

Haziri said that the request from the branches led by Gazmend Muhaxheri and Imri Ahmeti, as well as Lumir Abdixhiku’s response, will be reviewed by the party’s bodies.
He stressed that such a development had not surprised them, because, according to him, situations of this nature are common after electoral processes.
“It is a political request, the chairman’s reaction is this, he began with thanks and of course built his response, which we will discuss within the structures. We have a common goal, the political goal must not be touched, why the LDK exists, competes, what our mission is, that is what we have in common. Until the LDK returns to being the leading party, for many of us it is unacceptable, though the trend is positive. This situation has not caught us by surprise; post-election situations, the LDK is open, unlike other parties it does not keep these issues closed, even though they should have been discussed internally,” Haziri said on Tëvë1.
The LDK branch in Peja and Lipjan, as well as Branch II of the Democratic League of Kosovo in Prishtina, have called for Lumir Abdixhiku’s resignation, assessing that the LDK is in one of the most difficult periods in its history.
