State Public Prosecutor Nenad Saveski told the media that he could not yet say definitively whether the institution he heads had begun investigative steps in the “Alta Banka” case.
He said the Public Prosecutor’s Office is closely monitoring the situation and will intervene if it finds grounds to suspect a criminal offense. According to Saveski, however, it is still too early to provide concrete details.

“This situation, like any matter of particular public interest, is being monitored by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. If we determine that it involves a criminal matter, we will be obliged to respond. But at this stage I cannot give you a specific answer, because it is too early,” Saveski said.
Asked whether the Public Prosecutor’s Office had requested information from Serbian prosecutors, who are conducting an investigation that also involves Alta Banka owner Davor Macura, Saveski said there had been no communication so far about this particular case.
“We have very good cooperation with our colleagues in the neighboring Republic of Serbia. If such information or communication with the judicial authorities of the Republic of Serbia were needed, it would take place without difficulty,” Saveski said.
