“Student Resistance” has responded to the North Macedonia Government’s proposal for a new student food subsidy scheme, accepting the increase in the monthly amount from 3,500 to 4,500 denars. However, the organization has requested that two conditions be met before the model is implemented.
The first condition is that the agreements reached be included in the Law on Subsidized Student Food. The students are also asking for the list of companies and stores where the funds can be used to be made public in advance.

“We condition our acceptance of the proposed model on including the agreed solutions in the law and publishing the list of companies and stores in a timely manner,” their response states.
Under the proposal, a special digital system called “M student food” will be created, operating through the “M.shërbiomet” application. Under this model, the monthly subsidy will increase to 4,500 denars.
The scheme also provides for additional discounts at the stores and companies that will be part of the system. These discounts will remain valid until the end of the month, even if the student has not used the entire amount available.
The proposal was presented to representatives of the student parliaments during Wednesday’s meeting with the prime minister and the education minister. After the meeting, the prime minister said he was awaiting the students’ position and added that they, too, had agreed that the new model was more favorable than the current system.
Following the positive response from “Student Resistance,” it remains to be seen whether the Government will also include their demands in the legal solution.
