At a meeting today with a delegation from the Political Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to joining the North Atlantic Alliance. He said this step would help guarantee the long-term security of Kosovo and the wider Western Balkans.
Konjufca said NATO membership would give institutional expression to Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic orientation, which is rooted in its history of liberation, democratic values and broad public support. He stressed that integration into the Alliance is one of Kosovo’s main foreign policy objectives.

The foreign minister also praised the support Kosovo has received from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening relations and bringing the country closer to the Alliance, KosovaPress reports.
Turning to regional security, he said the Western Balkans needs a stable security environment that is protected from political upheaval and reduces opportunities for destabilization.
According to Konjufca, Kosovo’s inclusion in NATO would strengthen regional security, as the country would become part of the collective defense mechanism and deepen cooperation with allied states.
He added that Kosovo aims to preserve the security it has built in cooperation with its allies by joining the same Euro-Atlantic Alliance.
