Protests in Prishtina continue with calls for justice for Arlinda Zekaj and institutional accountability

A protest organized by the Feminist Collective for Thought and Action is being held for a second day in Prishtina following the killing of Arlinda Zekaj. Participants are calling for justice, accountability from institutions and protection for women from violence.

The gathering also presented a letter Arlinda Zekaj had sent to the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja three days before she was killed. She wrote about the danger threatening her, once again raising concerns about how cases are handled when women report threats and seek protection.

The presentation of the letter has renewed attention to how institutions respond to victims’ warnings and to the importance of taking such cases seriously.

Protesters are calling for Arlinda’s case to be handled responsibly and for institutions to take concrete measures to prevent violence against women.

The first protest was held in Prishtina on Tuesday, when thousands of people called for justice for Arlinda Zekaj and protested violence against women. Her family members also joined them, calling for the case to be fully clarified and for institutional accountability.

The killing of Arlinda Zekaj has sparked public reaction and anger, while reigniting discussion about women’s safety, the handling of violence cases and institutions’ duty to respond promptly when threats are reported.

The protest in Prishtina continues with a demand that justice for Arlinda not remain merely a public call, but be accompanied by concrete steps and institutional accountability.
