The initiative was put forward by SDSM councillor Keti Shterjova, who proposed naming the building “Vlado Janevski Universal Hall.”
According to Shterjova, the name would serve as recognition of Janevski’s longstanding contribution to Macedonian popular music.
However, the initiative was not approved because it failed to receive the support of VMRO-DPMNE councillors, the group that holds the majority in the Council.
During the same meeting, several proposals by the Left party concerning public transport were also rejected. Meanwhile, the “Zero waste in Skopje” initiative was accepted for consideration, aiming to improve cleanliness in the capital.
