Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has leveled harsh accusations at certain Western circles, declaring that they are openly seeking an armed confrontation between NATO and Russia. According to him, this follows the failure of a particular strategy to defeat Moscow in the conflict in Ukraine.

The veteran Slovak leader, known for his skeptical stance on sending weapons to Kyiv and his good relations with the Kremlin, stressed during the week that the European continent is closer than ever before to a large-scale war, which risks erupting as a direct consequence of the situation in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, powerful voices in Europe, particularly in Paris and Warsaw, have raised concerns about a series of hybrid attacks attributed to Russia.
In a strong message, Fico described the situation as a “deadly risk” and harshly criticized the West, accusing it of “pouring gasoline on the fire” through its unconditional support for Ukraine, an approach which, in his view, has produced no concrete results.
Analyzing the failure to achieve the objective of destroying Russia through this war, Fico explained the new logic of some leaders. “Since the goal could not be achieved with the Ukrainian army and all the aid provided, every effort is now being made to provoke a direct conflict between the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia,” he stated.
The Slovak prime minister maintained that this is not a conflict that concerns Slovakia or NATO, but warned that “within the Alliance there are warmongering elements seeking at all costs to turn this war into a head-on confrontation between Russia and NATO.”
