Izet Mexhiti, co-leader of VLEN in North Macedonia, has called on Albanian political parties to unite in support of the appeals process concerning the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

According to him, the first-instance ruling by the Specialist Chambers was met with indignation, so political differences should be set aside to provide joint support for the proceedings before the Court of Appeals.
“We received the ruling sentencing the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army with indignation. But this is the time to overcome our differences as political parties. Wherever we are, we must come together for the proceedings before the Court of Appeals,” Mexhiti said.
He stressed that the first-instance ruling does not mark the end of the legal battle.
“We must win the second battle with all our strength. In other words, we have not lost the war,” said the VLEN co-leader, describing the Kosovo Liberation Army and the National Liberation Army as the most glorious part of the history of Albanians everywhere.
